The London Launch and Global Movement
The inaugural AI and Democracy Forum in London was chaired by Sir Roger Gale MP and featured a welcoming address by Dr. Kyriacos Kouros, the High Commissioner of Cyprus to the UK. It marked the first leg of a global dialogue series designed to ensure technology strengthens rather than undermines democratic values, with sessions continuing in Athens, Nicosia, Brussels, and Washington.
Cypriot Legislative & Parliamentary Focus
Deliberations around AI’s impact on democracy also remain at the forefront of Cypriot domestic policy. The House of Representatives’ institutions committee actively evaluates how AI and automated systems might influence future elections. Furthermore, the Cyprus Forum has consistently integrated digital ethics, technology governance, and deliberative democracy panels into its annual programming.
