A meeting place for the institutions that govern by consent

The AI Democracy Forum is an independent, non-partisan gathering convened each year in a different city around the world.

Our mission

The AI Democracy Forum exists to keep pace with a simple fact: artificial intelligence is now involved in how citizens are informed, how votes are cast and counted, and how public institutions make decisions. We bring together the people responsible for democratic governance — legislators, election administrators, judges, civil servants and researchers — so that oversight of these systems is built by people who understand both the technology and the institutions it touches.

We are not a technology company, a lobbying body or a think tank attached to any single government. We are a working forum: most of each day is spent in closed-door sessions where participants draft language, compare national approaches and stress-test proposals before they are ever made public.

A forum without a fixed address

Our identity draws on three traditions: the vote in Athens, the elected chamber in London and the social contract in Paris. But the questions AI raises for democracy belong to every country. Rather than settle inside any single national parliament, the Forum travels, convening each year with a host parliament or university in a different city, so that no one tradition sets the terms of the conversation.

How we work

  • Sessions across our three cities, Athens, London and Paris, each held with a host university or institution.
  • Working groups that continue year-round between forums, each chaired by a pairing of a sitting legislator and an independent researcher.
  • A public programme of keynotes and panels, alongside closed sessions reserved for accredited delegates.
  • Three student competitions: an essay prize, the Applied Mathematics Challenge and the Engineering for Society Challenge.

Our history

The AI Democracy Forum held its inaugural session on 19 November 2025 at the UK Houses of Parliament, under the auspices of Rt Hon Sir Roger Gale MP, hosted by the Hellenic Tech Network and the Board of British Cypriots. The dialogue continued on 19 February 2026 at the National Historical Museum, Old Parliament Building, in Athens. Its third session convenes at Sorbonne Université in Paris on 14 November 2026.
